Wizz Air to restructure its business in Bulgaria; the company will not suspend flights to and from our country

“The regional company of the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air in Bulgaria will become a representative office,” Christian Krastev, Executive Director of the company in Bulgaria, announced to the LiveBiz website. According to the information, that does not mean that flights to and from Bulgaria will be suspended. This is just corporate restructuring.

The management of Wizz Air plans to restructure the company in Bulgaria into a small representative office or branch. Currently, the Bulgarian company employs about 140 people. The working positions here will be reduced several times. All taxes, which the company pays in Bulgaria, will be paid in Switzerland because of the corporate policy of Wizz Air, projecting to headquarter the entire financial management of the business in Geneva, specified the website. “Taxes in Bulgaria are low but in Switzerland they are even lower,” commented the expert.

The airline currently operates regular flights from Bulgaria to Italy, Belgium, Germany, Poland, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Spain, Hungary and the United Kingdom. From 2008 till 2010, the market share of low-cost companies at Sofia Airport increased by almost 10% to 30%.
