The minimum wage and the widow's pension will increase, promised PM Borissov
“As soon as we reach an agreement with the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, which will be held on June 23, we will raise the widow's pension and the minimum wage from BGN 240 to BGN 270,” PM Boyko Borissov said yesterday on bTV.“The increase in the allowances for widows will cover about 700,000 people and will cost the State some BGN 100 mln. The Republic Budget will have to allocate another BGN 30 mln annually for raising the minimum wage. This is all the State can afford at present. I hope we would be able to increase the minimum pension as well by the end of our mandate,” specified PM Borissov.
“The elections are not connected in any way with the increase in pensions and salaries. It would be nice if we raised all pensions prior the elections. But that would mean acting like former prime minister Sergey Stanishev. Bulgaria’s future is a greater concern for me than increasing all pensions,” commented the Prime Minister without specifying the date as of which the increase will enter into effect.
“GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) must win the local elections in the big cities,” PM Borissov added.
“I am carefully using my time to nominate candidates for municipal councillors. I should be the one to approve them or delete their names from the election tickets. I have a lot of information about people because I talk to fishermen and pasty-makers,” said the Prime Minister.
Asked if he had really said that Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was the most suitable candidate for President, MP Borissov replied: “You should read more carefully”.
Then the Prime Minister specified that “no one is more prepared than Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, but he cannot be nominated for President because of his participation in the former tripartite coalition government. PM Borissov also commented the presidential nomination of GERB and whether Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev would have a chance to run for Head of State.
