Public servants from the Public Procurement Agency to be remunerated with EU funds

The additional staff employed by the Public Procurement Agency will be remunerated with EU funds, announced Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of EU Funds Management in the National Assembly after the adoption at first reading of the amendments to the Public Procurement Act (PPA). According to him, the decision was coordinated with Brussels and the funds are expected to be allocated under Operational Programme Technical Assistance. The amendments to the PPA provide for the preliminary monitoring on the tenders to be implemented by the Agency. The other PPA amendments foresee simplification of procedures. It is envisaged for the Ordinance for the Award of Small Public Procurement Contracts and legislative acts governing the process to become part of the law. The modifications are also aimed at the reduction of the types and procedures for the drawing up of tenders. According to Donchev, it will be favourable for municipalities to partake with their own commercial companies in the waste management process.
