Tsvetanov: There is no confrontation between me and Simeon Djankov

"There is aboslutely no competition or confrontation between me and Simeon Djankov," said for BNT and Darik Radio, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Tsvetanov Tsvetanov yesterday. He was clear that the Government and the Parliament were the institutions, determining the State budget. Tsvetanov said that each ministry had submitted its own budget proposals.

"There should be serious debates on the issue . The document is submitted to Parliament and severe debates are being held there," repeated his opinion the Minister of Interior. According to him, any decision should be made collectively.

"It is like in a family relationships - when you make a decision, you should bear the consequences. Whenever I am to take a decision, I seek the opinions of my colleagues to the highest possible extend, "explained Tsvetanov.

He said that the decision for the closure of the Burgas Lukoil – Neftochim refinery could threaten the security of the country. According to him, the country’s reserves of fuel will be enough for the normal operation of the systems for a month maximum.

"There must be a clear action plan when such decisions are taken. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) owes BGN 8 mln to Lukoil", said Tsvetanov. He explained that a plan for the deferred payments had already been drafted.

Tsvetanov was clear that the suspension of the donations to the MoI was not implemented under pressure. "What we did was to inform the public about the wide spread speculations on the donations," said the Deputy Prime Minister. According to him, in 2011, MoI has received BGN 15.3 mln from the EU funds. The Minister said that the donations from Bulgaria amounted to BGN 247,000 both in cash and in goods such as fuel and supplies. "The statements that we have received here in the country, some BGN 6.5 mln in donations, are not true. This funding comes from the EU," repeated Tsvetanov.
