Austrian operatorto acquire part of a Bulgarian postal company

An Austrian postal service operator is expected to sign an agreement to acquire considerable stakes in a private Bulgarian company, announced Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC), after the Forum "Liberalization of the Regional Markets." In his words, the transaction must be realised at the end of this month. The inquiry of the website of the Commission for Protection of Competition indicated that that Post acht Beteiligungs GmbH has already stated its intentions to acquire a part of M & BM Express at the end of March. The anti-monopolisctic body has not yet issued its final decision.

The national company Bulgarian Posts PLC reported losses of some BGN 10 mln last year. So far, the sale of shares of the state-owned postal service company has not been discussed Probably, henceforth we might think for scheduling such a debate, explained Moskvski. He commented that Bulgarian Posts PLC will eliminate the non-operating assets and will lay off some 1,000 employees. The actual effect of these austere measures is expected next year.

Regarding the Balchik Airport, there is an option of granting the company under concession or opening a sale tender for it, reckoned the Minister. He added that he expected  Austrian investors to show interest in some of the Bulgarian airports and Danube river ports.
