Bulgarian mobile operators have not released a decision on the price decrease as of July 1

So far, Bulgarian mobile operators have not released a final decision on the price decrease after July 1 this year. Late last week, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) received permission from Brussels to oblige companies providing such services to lower by half the rates for wholesale calls. The price decline in terms of the so-called termination will become a fact from the beginning of next month, while phone tariffs will drop from BGN 0.13 to BGN 0.5,5 per minute. Thus, price levels will be below the EU average, specified Vesselin Bozhkov, Chairman of the Bulgarian monitoring body CRC. Generally, the final price is expected to decrease by 25 to 40% of its current level, indicated the Regulator. According to the plan for the gradual lowering of rates, after the beginning of next year, the service is expected to become even cheaper than now. At that time, the price ceiling will be BGN 0.4,6 per minute. In case mobile operators fail to comply with the new requirements and refuse to reduce their retail prices, CRC may undertake effective measures to regulate the market.
The mobile operator Vivacom commented for Klassa daily that it had always advocated the thesis on the price decrease of mobile services and on the 'opening' of the operators' networks, which will be to the benefit of subscribers.

According to them, the introduction of a CRC discount on wholesale prices as of July 1 will yield results after some time and it will be expressed in the drafting of new pricing plans, which will enable people to choose themselves the most appropriate phone call rates according to their consumption. M-Tel reckons that prices must be determined by the competitive environment. According to them, each year in Bulgaria, a rate reduction within the range of 15 - 20% has been observed. The mobile operator Globul also backed the assumption that the decline in wholesale prices will lead to the drafting of new tariff plans.
