Group of Roma people broke a bus in the capital

“A group of Roma people broke a bus, travelling on line N 1 of the metropolitan public transport. There are two victims,” reported officials from the Ministry of Interior.

"The incident occurred around 16:00 am on Monday. The bus was travelling from the village of Gorublyane to the city centre," told Focus news agency Chavdar Vasinski, Technical Director of the Karat- S company, which owns the bus.

A group of five or six drunken Roma people got on the bus after the village of Pancharevo and started running riot. There was a scandal between the passengers and two Roma people. The brawlers were forced to get off between two bus stops on the Tsarigradsko Chaussee Blvd, but they started throwing stones on the bus. All passengers - over 30 people - lied on the ground. Part of the broken glass injured two passengers in the bus.

According to information of Darik radio, two women were injured in the incident. Miroljub Stolarski, from Karat -S - the company owner of the bus - confirmed the news. They were injured and examined by a team of the Emergency Medical Services. Meanwhile, the driver stopped the bus at the station under Tsarigradsko Chaussee. Both offenders were identified by the people and detained by the police officers, who arrived on the spot. About six of the bus windows in the rear were broken. The incident was referred to the Sofia Municipality and the Ministry of Interior. " Exact calculation of the damages has not been made yet, but the price of a glass is in the range of BGN 300-400 ," said Chavdar Vasinski.

Municipal councillor Angel Dzhambazki from the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation - Bulgarian National Movement said for Focus news agency that a double standard was being applied in the checking of the tickets in the metropolitan public transport. According to him - there is a discrimination since Roma people travel en mass without tickets. Nobody can say how large the damages caused by this practice are, both to the municipality and the metropolitan public transport, he said.
