Bulgarian boy wins the European Chess Championship

Tsvetan Stoyanov won the European Chess Championship for children under the age of 8. The championship was held in Prague. Bulgarian chess-players won a total of two medals at the championship which was held from August 16 to 26. Tsvetan Stoyanov is the champion, while Nurgyul Salimova won the bronze medal for girls under the age of 10.

Tsvetan Stoyanov is a member of the Burgas 64 Chess Club with personal coach Zhivko Zhekov. He finished with a result of 7.5 points after a win with the white pieces in the last round against player number one in the starting list and leader in the ranking before the last round – Dmitriy Tsoy from Russia.
