Ahmed Ahmedov from the Chief Bulgarian Mufti’s Office: We do not doubt our religious leaders

“The position of the Chief Mufti has been explicit since the very beginning, even before the trial. A number of these people are our employees, we have delegated to them the task of disseminating our religion and we cannot doubt their abilities,” Ahmed Ahmedov, Secretary General of the Chief Mufti’s Office, said on bTV in connection with the commenced lawsuit against 13 Muslims accused of preaching radical Islam.

Ahmed Ahmedov stated that the activities of their employees are being controlled every month with respect to their preaching. “We do not pretend to have established total control over our employees. Bulgarian Muslims are very sensitive regarding immoral and illogical statements on the part of their religious leaders. Our Muslims have traditionally professed Islam for hundreds of years. When someone comes and tells them something that is incompatible with their religious notions, they resolutely resist and we can clearly see this,” commented Ahmedov.
