CITUB is ready to withdraw from the agreement on social insurance thresholds

“The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) is willing to withdraw from the agreement between businesses, the trade unions, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP) on the minimum insurance thresholds,” announced officials from CITUB before the last meeting of the working group for social dialogue scheduled for today. "This is not an ultimatum. It comes down to sticking to the rules of the working group. We do not see any sense and will withdraw our signatures, if the measures on which we agreed in early summer are not applied,” stated for Klassa the President of the Confederation Plamen Dimitrov.

In the middle of last week, the trade unions, businesses and MLSP agreed to increase the minimum insurance levels in 32 out of 80 economic activities, classified according to the Bulgarian legislation in 2012. The average increase in the insurance income, which has been contracted up to now is 7.2% and will affect about one million people.

Yesterday, the experts from the Confederation of Labour Podkrepa viewed the position of their colleagues with astonishment. Dimitar Manolov, Vice President of the trade union commented for Klassa briefly: "I am surprised. This is pretty unexpected for me. I do not know how they came up with this idea.”
