Parents protest against the fertility and family policy

Parents across the country staged a nationwide protest against the policy to stimulate fertility and family support. In 20 cities across the country, parents gathered at 12 o'clock sharp in front of the buildings of the respective municipalities and in front of the National Assembly in Sofia. The initiative was organised in the social network Facebook.

About 50 mothers, most of whom with prams, gathered in front of the Parliament building in the capital city. They insist on the compensation for raising a child of up to two years to be bound to the minimum wage and child benefits to be received for each child. Mothers also want changes in the conditions for admitting young children in nurseries and kindergartens, as well as the opening of new kindergartens.

Parents expect an adequate response by the government and expressed willingness to discuss legislative changes with the Social Minister and government representatives.
