Customs officers seize illegal drugs

334 tablets, ampoules of injection solution and bottles of contraband drugs were discovered by customs inspectors at the Customs Office of Lesovo in secret compartments of a car, the Customs Office of Bourgas announced. Ephedrine was also discovered among the drugs smuggled - a precursor for the production of synthetic drugs. The contraband consignment was stopped in an attempt for illegal export to Turkey. The car - a Volkswagen Golf with Turkish registration - was driven by a Bulgarian citizen with dual Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship, accompanied by two female companions, also with dual Bulgarian-Turkish citizenship. The car arrived at the Customs Office of Lesovo at about 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver and the passengers said they were visiting relatives in Turkey and had no goods to declare, just personal belongings. Despite their convincingness, however, customs inspectors performed a thorough check of the car at the customs hall equipped for this purpose. Black plastic bags with 7,000 Speman forte and Clenbuterol tablets, 234 ampoules and bottles of Human Growth Hormone, Sargenor, Trenaplex and 100 ampoules of Ephedrine, a precursor for the production of synthetic drugs, were found in secret compartments of the car's seats and under the bags of personal belongings inside the car and the trunk during the inspection. Besides Ephedrine, all the other drugs found are also very strong and are taken only with prescription for hormone therapy, various lung and heart diseases, in order to increase sexual activity, etc. There were no purchase documents or prescriptions for the medicines.
