CITU seeks an urgent convening of the board of health

On Tuesday, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) asked for an urgent convening of the specialised Health Council in connection with the situation in the country's blood centres.

Syndicate's Ivan Kokalov was adamant for BNR that workers in blood centres should be adequately paid.

Kokalov said that, although employees' work in blood centres is related to the national security, this will not prevent them from taking more radical actions.

Margarita Petrova, Chairwoman of the Medical Federation to Podkrepa Labour Confederation, said: "I believe that what will eventually be decided at the Council meeting will take place."

She added that she does not expect mass resignations but, nevertheless, believes that blood centres may experience a domino effect.
