Three candidates to compete for the post of Prosecutor General

Along with the favourite of the ruling party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) - Sotir Tsatsarov, Chairman of the Plovdiv Regional Court - the race for a new Prosecutor General has been joined by two more magistrates. Deputy Prosecutor General Galina Toneva and Borislav Sarafov, Head of the Specialised Appellate Prosecution Office are the two other candidates. They were nominated by five members of the Supreme Judicial Council. No more candidacies will be accepted. This means that Toneva and Sarafov will compete with the Chairman of the Plovdiv Regional Court Sotir Tsatsarov to succeed former Prosecutor General Boris Velchev. Each of the three will have to present a concept and the vote will probably be in the middle of December.
