BNAO finds discrepancies in the assets declarations of 291 senior officials

Experts at the Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO) finally published their findings regarding any discrepancies in personal assets declarations senior officials submitted in 2012. According to the agency’s internet page, comparisons between statements filed with BNAO as required at the beginning and then at the end of the year have revealed discrepancies in 201 cases. With another 90 civil servants there were inconsistencies between the annual statements. The national auditor has also listed the names of individuals with irregularities or lapses in the information they have disclosed. Under the law, BNAO will refer the list of established discrepancies to the Chief Executive of the National Revenue Agency for further actions under Chapter 14 or 15 of the Code of Procedure for Tax and Social Security and the head of the State Agency for National Security.
