Bulgarian President: I am convinced that we can reach visa liberalisation with Canada

“It is important to us that Bulgaria’s position was heard in the heart of Europe – the European Parliament (EP). We presented the way we see the democratic development of the country, of our region and of the entire European Union EU).”
This is what Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said in a speech before the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg on Wednesday, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
The Bulgarian Head of State and the President of the EP Martin Schulz also discussed the negotiations on the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Mr Plevneliev thanked Mr Schulz for the consistent support for Bulgaria’s accession in the Schengen area.
“We achieved an important step towards the visa liberalisation between Canada and Bulgaria with the help of the EU. I am convinced that over the next days we will reach an agreement on this important issue. This is the way Europe works – solidarity in support to Bulgaria’s cause,” President Plevneliev remarked.
