Bulgarian tourism minister: Tourists are increasingly seeking four, five-star hotels but there is no such base in Rose Valley

Amendments to the Tourism Act, in its part concerning the system for single tourism information system, was one of the issues raised at the meeting between Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova and representatives of the tourism sector, rose producers and mayors from the Rose Valley, held in the town of Kazanlak, Central Bulgaria, on Thursday, Radio FOCUS reporter said.
Minister Angelkova explained that the amendments were being examined at the parliamentary committees at the moment and then they would be filed for debates at the parliament on first reading.
The lack of high-quality base was one of the issues raised by the local power and Mayor of Kazanlak Municipality Galina Stoyanova during the meeting. The issue is also in Council of Ministers’ agenda.
Ms Angelkova commented that tourists were increasing looking for four and five-star hotels, which was a tendency valid both for Bulgaria and the world.
The tourism minister informed that 21 million overnight stays were realised in the country in 2015, some 11 million of which were at four and five-star hotels, which was a 4% increase.
“In 2016 all hotels of these categories are almost 100% booked. The figures outline a tendency for demand of high-quality products, something that we are oriented towards, too,” Ms Angelkova remarked.
