Parvan Simeonov, Gallup International: According to Bulgarians, problems in Turkey are yet to come

“According to Bulgarians, the problems in Turkey are yet to come.” This is what Parvan Simenov, Director of Gallup International, said speaking for Radio FOCUS, commenting on the recent poll carried out by the sociological agency.
“On the one hand, our society takes to heart the loss of democracy in Turkey, while on the other – many Bulgarians think that what happens in our southeastern neighbour will not affect our life,” Mr Simeonov remarked.
70% of Bulgarians think that the risk of new conflicts in Turkey is looming larger, says the recent public opinion survey of Gallup International sociological agency carried out among 822 respondents from all over the country on July 20-21, 2016.
20% of the respondents believe that the risk of new conflicts in Turkey is decreasing, while 70% believe that it is rather increasing. 27% think that the situation in Turkey will rather affect their life, while 69% hold the opposite opinion.
60% of Bulgarians do not expect change in the Bulgaria-Turkey relations. Many Bulgarian Turks even think that there is a chance for the relations between the two countries to improve.
