Culture minister: Burnt tobacco warehouses in Plovdiv must be restored by their owners

 “If the tobacco warehouses in Bulgaria’s second-biggest city of Plovdiv are damaged by arson, those responsible should be punished with the entire severity of the law.”
This is what Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov said during his extraordinary visit to Plovdiv, Radio FOCUS reporter said.
In his words, the Inspectorate for Protection of the Cultural Heritage will start working on the case as of Monday. 
“The management of the Ministry of Culture will come out with a clear and categorical position. My clear position is that the buildings should be restored. Once and for all the owners should realise that ownership goes along with responsibility,” the minister commented further. 
Mr Rashidov added that the owners of monuments of culture were obliged to take care of the property under the law and they were not allowed to make changes. 
“Some people think that when a monument of culture is burnt down or destroyed, then they have the right to build whatever they wish on the same place. The owners should learn that they have to restore everything,” Vezhdi Rashidov said.
The minister remarked that it was too early to say whether it was an accident or arson.
