Growing number of Bulgarians opt for card payments

The number of Bulgarians who opt for bank card payments instead of cash ones has reached 64% in 2016, or 3 percentage points more than last year’s result and 23 points more on 2014. The same percentage of people, 64%, say they would pay their state and local taxes with a card, in case they have access to a POS terminal. The share of people who pay their taxes and fees in cash has declined from 88% in 2013 to 69% in 2016.
