Naydenov promises subsidies worth over BGN 500 mln to farmers in 2012


In 2012, the agricultural producers will receive a total of over BGN 500 mn in grants, announced in the town of Parvomai, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Miroslav Naydenov. He specified that overall BGN 240 mln will be allocated per unit of arable land, while a total of BGN 71 mln will be earmarked per animal raised, whereas another BGN 70 mln will be transferred under the EU grant scheme. According to him, this is the general financial framework of the agreement being negotiated with the farmers.

For the first time next year, funds were provided for the construction of direct-sale stores. At the meeting, the farmers demanded the repeal of the tax subsidy and granting a priority to the Bulgarian producers on the purchase of agricultural products from the processing plants. Based on the funds allocation combined with the EU grants, the farmers will receive about BGN 30 per decare under the Single Payment Scheme per area unit in 2012. The latter will maintain the upward trend of increasing the financial aiding per unit arable area, announced meanwhile the Association of Agricultural Producers in Bulgaria. The state subsidy for aiding the pig and poultry farms amounts to BGN 50 mln. Besides, over BGN 25 mln were generally provided for the fruit and vegetables producers under different subsidy programmes.
