Protests and Involvement

When I first heard about those guys protesting against Shale Gas Exploration I was kinda just “Okay, do some pictures, get home and go on with your life”.  Yet photojournalism is a thing, where you can’t just take some pictures and go home – you have to understand the subject and know why those people are on the streets in order to make good pictures.

After spending several days on the topic I became a part of that whole movement, because I really liked the idea. So instead of just taking pictures (some of them published in a magazine) I shortly started making some graphic for the facebook group – those are some of my “messages”.

PS: Both protests on the 14th and 18th January 2012 were a success – the movement managed to push the Bulgarian government into a moratorium to ban the exploration of Shale Gas, using the method “Fracking”  - A big milestone in Bulgaria’s “Pseudo Democracy”. After France, Bulgaria is Europe’s second country putting a nationwide ban on “Fracking”.
