Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo Moves Staff to Fukuoka Due to Increased Background Radiation

On March 21, a part of the Bulgarian Embassy staff moved from Tokyo to Fukuoka, around 1,000 km to the South, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vessela Cherneva said at a briefing of the ministry Tuesday. The move was prompted by increased background radiation.

Bulgaria has an honourary consul in Fukuoka.

The consular service remains in Tokyo and continues to work and assist citizens. A new consul, Yuliyana Antonova, was appointed there as of March 19.
