Spring Easter Festival to Be Held in Sofia

A Spring Easter Festival will be held in
front of the National Theatre on April 16-24 as part of Sofia's
cultural calendar, the organizers of the event said.

Sofia is following the example of other European capitals, which
traditionally organize Easter parades, festivals and many
attractions for their citizens.

The festival will offer entertainment for children and their
parents during the day - shows and art workshops, where everyone
can make Easter decorations for their home - and musical
performances in the evening. Participants in the festival
include both amateur bands and well-known performers such as the
soloists of the Philip Koutev National Folklore Ensemble,
singer Vanya Kostova, the folk rock band Bulgara, as well as the
stars of BG Radio with a special concert on April 23.

Also to take part in the festival are craftsmen in the painting
of Easter eggs from Sofia's Ethnographic Institute and Museum,
Veliko Turnovo (North Central Bulgaria) and Ihtiman (Western
Bulgaria).

The festival will be officially opened by Sofia Mayor Yordanka
Fandakova at 11 a.m. on April 16.
