The nominations of the major parties for the forthcoming mayoral elections to be clear within a month

Within a week, GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party) will announce the names of its nominations for mayors of about 30 municipalities, including Blagoevgrad, Sandanski, Bansko and Burgas, announced at the opening of the office of GERB in the village of Chernoochene this weekend Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the party's pre-election headquarters, Tsvetan Tsvetanov. BSP will announce its nominations by July 9.

There will be more surprises in the mayoral elections in big cities. "Everybody knows about my long-standing friendship with Varna's Mayor, Kiril Yordanov. For us, it is important that the mayor cooperates efficiently with GERB's government," stated on Saturday Prime Minister and leader of GERB, Boyko Borissov. The latter implied unequivocally that he might support the current Mayor of Varna for a new term in office. Borissov announced that he has told the district coordinator of GERB acting in the Balck seaside capital, Pavel Dimitrov, to hold negotiations on GERB's candidacies. Besides, he added that the final nomination will be announced next week. It is a well-known fact that Kiril Yordanov is completing his third term in office. The statement of Boyko Borissov made it clear that the Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, will receive support for serving a second term in office.

Dimitar Nikolov is perhaps the best GERB candidate for mayor along with our Sofia nomination. Besides, his performance is a little weaker than mine, while I was acting as mayor, stated Borissov. Thus, it became clear that Sofia Mayor, Yordanka Fandakova has all chances to serve a second term in office. Meanwhile, BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party) raised in Burgas the candidacy of the Head of the Super Burgas project, Pavel Marinov. Furthermore, it has been known for a long time that George Kadiev will run for Sofia mayor. Besides, BSP's nomination for Varna has not been released but some of the names include that of the arrested former chairman of the municipal council, Borislav Gutsanov.
In Plovdiv, the nominated candidate of GERB is the district governor and leader of the local GERB headquarters, Ivan Totev.
The former football star and current Mayor of Sliven, Yordan Lechkov has been saying for months that he will receive a third term in office with GERB's support.
