Two explosions in front of the party headquarters of OLJ and a DSB club in Sofia

There were two blasts in the capital - in front of the headquarters of OLJ (Order Law and Justice) and a DSB (Democrats for Strong Bulgaria)-Ilinden club in Sofia on Monday night. The first signal was received at 3.58 am and the second one about 20 minutes later. There were no injured people in the incidents. The blasts caused material damage.

"The expert analysis indicates that both explosions were identical and that military means had been used," told reporters in Parliament, Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

According to him, some circles of organised crime, hiding behind political events, are trying to destabilise the country. "These are the style and methods of those who still consider themselves untouchable," stated Tsvetanov.

Stanimir Florov, Director of Chief Directorate Countering Organised Crime (CDCOC) said that the two explosives were identical to that of the blast which was left in front of the editorial office of the Gallery newspaper in February this year. He added that the experts from the Ministry of Interior had suspicions who could have planted the explosives. Florov said that not enough evidence has been collected so far in order to announce publicly who the perpetrators were.

"The blast in front of the headquarters of OLJ is an unprecedented terrorist act. This is unique, "said on Bulgarian National Radio Yane Yanev, leader of OLJ. According to him, the incident in front of the party’s headquarters was a professional terrorist act. "Planting explosive devices in front of the headquarters of two right-wing parties on the eve of the vote of no-confidence - this is a sign of distress, we believe," said the leader of OLJ. He reminded that the perpetrators of the explosion in front of Gallery’s editorial office had not been disclosed despite the personal commitment of Prime Minister Borissov.

"Strong- arm men have entered Bulgarian politics and have coloured it in their typical way. This is an unprecedented attempt at political intimidation before the vote of no-confidence," said yesterday in Varna DSB leader Ivan Kostov. According to him, the entire responsibility for this act lies with the people in power – the political party GERB.
