Emil Karanikolov, Executive Director of Privatisation and Post-Privatisation Control Agency: BGN 60 mln is the initial bidding price for Technoexportstroy

“The tender procedure for Technoexportstroy is expected to be called this week and the initial bidding price for the company will be BGN 60 mln,” Emil Karanikolov, Executive Director of the Privatisation and Post-Privatisation Control Agency, announced today on BNR. “The criteria are quite acceptable and the aim is to attract a wide range of investors. This is quite an attractive company that has properties abroad,” he added.

According to Karanikolov, 2011 was a difficult year for privatisation, but the Agency coped with its targets as a whole, collecting a total of BGN 330 mln from the sale of state-owned assets.

“On January 19, the legal analysis and the information memorandum for the privatisation of BDZ-Freight Transport JSC should be ready. We will announce the procedure as soon as we know all the details,” added Karanikolov.

According to the Agency’s Head, the divestment of the machine-engineering works VMZ-Sopot is one of the most important future deals. “We will not seek a high price in this case. The most important thing for us is to keep this company operating. A tender procedure for E. ON-Bulgaria is expected to be held at the end of February. Soon afterwards, this will happen with CEZ Electro Bulgaria as well. During the first procedure for EVN at the end of 2011, we saw that the sector is attractive to investors and we collected nearly BGN 93 mln. Therefore, we expect good deals for the residual state-owned staked in CEZ and E. ON as well.

“At the present stage, Bulgarian Posts JSC will not be privatised. However, it is good that talks on this have already started. In the case of Bulgarian Posts JSC, the example of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) should be followed. The principal should decide whether it will be a privatisation deal or a restructuring one,” said the Executive Director of the Privatisation and Post-Privatisation Control Agency.
