Siderov asks GERB for give him back money for the MPs who left his party

GERB should return the funds received as party subsidies intended for the independent MPs, who declared their affiliation to the parliamentary majority, demanded yesterday again Ataka leader, Volen Siderov. He stated that the case with the people who lect Ataka stood as a proof of the vicious interpretation of the Political Parties Act allowing party members, who left their political group to declare their affiliation to another party.According to him, a subsidy worth BGN 238, 000 was already diverted from Atacka party, while the funds have been actually transferred to those who left Ataka and already declared their affiliation to the GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) party. These MPs include Valentin Nikolov, Ognyan Peychev, Kiril Gumnerov, Kalina Krumova and Tsveta Georgieva. According to Siderov, they are receiving a bonus of BGN 17, 000 per month in addition to their salary, which is a sheer trade with political influence. The Ataka leader insisted that if these people vote in support of GERB, they should not be remunerated for that. "There are no funds, transferred under the scheme you talk about," laconically replied to Siderov, the Deputy-Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

The actual author of the amendment to Political Parties Act allowing the government subsidy to be granted to the MPs regardless of their party affiliation, was the Ataka lawmaker, Pavel Shopov. This text was passed by the previous 40^th National Assembly. In the summer of 2011, after the start of the disintegration process of the Ataka parliamentary group, Pavel Shopov delivered again the proposal for amending the Political Parties Act ''in order to stop the speculations with the party subsidies."At the same time, the Minister of Finance, Simeon Djankov was refusing to provide information on the actual political party affiliation declared by each independent MP.
