Coalition for Bulgaria discusses its plans in the town of Hissarya

Today and tomorrow, the members of Coalition for Bulgaria are meeting in the town of Hissarya where they will discuss their future political plans. Besides the lawmakers, the seminar will be attended by the left-wing MPs and members of the Executive Bureau, as well as coalition partners, Chairmen of Councils and commissions of the National Council of BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party).

One of the highlights of the seminar will be the further development of management projects of the left-wing party, whose presentation and public discussion started a year ago. The last of these referring to fiscal and financial policy was made public at the Saturday's session of the BSP National Council. The meeting will seek ways to develop these projects via the political actions and initiative of the Bulgarian Parliament, including legislative initiatives. The possible amendments to the Electoral Code announced by BSP at the end of 2011 will also be debated.

The 48th BSP Congress will be held on May 19 – 20, 2012 in Hall 1 of NPC (National Palace of Culture, Sofia), decided the socialists at the BSP plenum on Saturday. Many of BSP's members expected President Georgi Parvanov, who was in power from 2002 to 2012, to appear but it turned out that he had not been invited. According to Stanishev, his inquiry into BSP's statute showed that after his mandate at the Presidency, located at 2 Dondukov Blvd., Parvanov became by law a delegate to the next BSP congress, but not of any operational body such as the BSP National Council.

Ultimately, Georgi Parvanov informed his fellow party members in a letter about his future political intentions and, once again, avoided a face-to-face meeting with Stanishev.
''I want to inform the honourable National Council that I intend to involve myself actively in the political campaign,'' indicated Parvanov in his letter.
