Standards for 72 professions drafted by BIA

Professional standards for the various positions in seven sectors of the Bulgarian economy have been developed. The Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) has elaborated the competencies required for the employees in 72 professions in the sectors of electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, meat-processing, the furniture industry and tourism. By the end of 2012, competency models will be worked out for another 10 sectors: power engineering, construction, wholesale and retail trade, the chemical industry, transport, the canning industry, the extracting industry, facility management, the production of milk and dairy products, security and investigation activities. By mid-2012, competence models will be tested and validated in the operation of 70 enterprises. The most commonly required competencies for the successful practice of the positions are: understanding of the business processes, understanding of the products, the focus on clients, good-quality performance, the management of people and processes.
