NHIF Manager, Dr. Nelly Nesheva, receives a BGN 12,156 bonus

The manager of NHIF (National Health Insurance Fund), Doctor Nelly Nesheva, announced yesterday that she has received a bonus of BGN 13,507 and, after tax deduction, the amount was BGN 12,156. In this way, NHIF's Head responded to the information circulated by the right-wing MP Dimo ​​Gyaurov on Wednesday that, in 2011, she received BGN 30,000 as extraordinary income. On this occasion, Nesheva added that she was considering suing Gyaurov for defaming her name.

"When a person is dignified and when they want the public to assess them properly, they evaluate their labour in the right way. I can refuse to receive any remuneration, but then I will be a populist. I could say irresponsibly that my employees will receive BGN 7,000, while I will be satisfied with BGN 2,000. Is this the answer that society expects? Then I can rely on someone to give me this money illegally 'under the table'? What kind of manager has such indecent expectations?," commented Nelly Nesheva. She stated that she had no intention of returning her bonus because she has deserved it.

In her opinion, last year, all NHIF employees received bonuses. They were allocated mainly as a result of the collection of fines. Deputy NHIF Governor, Mariyana Vassileva received a BGN 16, 942 bonus, while her Secretary was granted BGN 7,788, and the Head of Cabinet was given a BGN 4,097 bonus and the internal audit staff received BGN 3,840, while the Financial Control Division was granted BGN 4, 643. Each Director of the NHIF Directorate received BGN 12,064, while the Chief Accountant was given BGN 7,789. The Head of the Monitoring Department received BGN 9,482 and the Department Head of other directorates was given BGN 8,162. The Control Directorate Expert received BGN 7,772 and the senior experts in other directorates were granted BGN 3,996. The Directors of the Regional Health Insurance Funds (RHIF) received BGN 6,232 each, while their deputies received BGN 6,994 each.

The manager of the NHIF noted that she saw nothing wrong in granting bonuses to employees because they have performed well. Furthermore, many of them receive salaries of BGN 400-500 and bonuses are the way to stimulate them.
