The Commission on Protection of Competition changes its position on the fuel cartel

“At this stage, I can not confirm this statement. There is a position of the Commission, which brought allegations of possible violations,” stated President of the Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) Petko Nikolov, answering a question whether there was a cartel in the fuel trade, quoted by the Focus News agency.

“From the moment they recieve the formal statement of the Commission, the concerned parties have 30 days for appeal,” said Nikolov. In this period, they have access to the file and can raise objections against the already submitted charge for violations, present their comments supported by evidence, and ask to be heard by the CPC.

“If they take advantage of their rights, the CPC will pass an appropriate ruling, which will then be final. At this stage, this is an interim statement, which can not be published because the law does not allow this. This is a statement addressed to the concerned parties alone,” said Petko Nikolov.
