The Commission for Protection Against Discrimination: The prices of vignettes are discriminatory

The monthly stickers for category 3 vechicles cost BGN 25, while the annual ones are worth BGN 67. This means that on the basis of the annual vignettes the use of roads monthly costs BGN 5.58 to the driver but in fact the monthly vignette is 4-5 fold more expensive and therefore discriminatory, according to the conclusion of the Commission for Protection Against Discrimination. 

The annual vignettes are intended for drivers who regularly use the road infrastructure and, therefore, might offer some discount. In contrast, the short-term stickers are designed for those who use the roads occasionally, considers the Commission. Its representatives insisted that the current price of the monthly vignette should not exceed 10% of the annual one, while the weekly should not go above 5%, and the daily one - 2%. The Commission urged for the annual vignette to be valid for 12 months regardless of the purchase date.
