The expensive fuels under discussion

Deputy Prime Minister Simeon Djankov explicitly opposed the temporary removal of biodiesel from fuels, which was targeted at their price decrease. He made that clear during his visit in the town of Haskovo. "I am flatly against some of the proposed ideas for the provisional price reductions. For example, the repeal of the biofuel additives," indicated the Minister of Finance. According to him, this is a temporary measure which will not solve the problems with the price hike.

The idea was launched last week by Valentin Zlatev, CEO of Lukoil Bulgaria during his meeting with Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Delian Dobrev. During the conversation, the discussion was focused on the measures, which could result in the dropping of the fuel price. According to the EU directives, the amount of biodiesel in fuels should reach up to 5.75%. Following the decision of the GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) government, its current share is 4%. In fact, Lukoil estimates indicate that if the biodiesel additive is abolished, the fuel prices could decline by BGN 0.5 per liter, announced Dobrev.
