More than BGN 30 mln to be allocated for nine programmes in secondary education

The Government approved nine national programmes for the development of secondary education, the press office of the Council of Ministers announced yesterday. The largest amount will be allocated for the programme "Optimisation of the School Network", under which schools’ equipment will be improved, conditions for having meals at school canteens will be created and school buses will be purchased. A budget of BGN 17.1 mln is planned for its implementation. The programme "Training" is intended for teachers and will ensure their career development and professional qualification. More than BGN 290,000 have been earmarked for it.

Over BGN 6.5 mln have been earmarked for the programme "Information and Communication Technologies at Schools", which will continue the National Strategy for Introduction of Information and Communication Technologies in Bulgarian schools. The programme "Schools – a Territory of Students" focuses on the organisation of students in full-time training with semi-boarding groups. More than BGN 1.8 mln have been earmarked for student competitions and national contests, developing key skills for our society. The programme "Modernisation of Vocational Education" has a total budget of BGN 2 mln, which will be invested in refurbishing of specialised teaching studies. Additional training for children from the first to the fourth grade will be ensured under the programme "Caring for Each Student", which will dispose of BGN 2 mln.

The programme "Creating Accessible Architectural Environment" focuses on the integration of disabled students and projects the construction of ramps, adaptation of sanitary facilities, repairs of adjacent infrastructure and instalment of elevators and platforms.

More than BGN 1 mln will be allocated under the programme "Native Language and Culture Abroad", targeting Bulgarian communities in foreign countries. The programme "No Absences from School" with a total budget of BGN 3 mln is aimed at increasing the number of substitute teachers.
