Sergey Ignatov: It is too early to consider seriously the demand for the setting up of a Turkish University in Bulgaria

The demand of the Federation "Justice - Bulgaria" to set up a university in our country, which will present lectures in the Turkish language, should be submitted as a draft to the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA), stated yesterday the Minister of Education Sergey Ignatov at the official presentation of the energy-efficient vehicles designed and constructed by the Bulgarian students from the Technical University (TU), Sofia and the TU of Varna.

According to him, the Ministry is waiting for events to develop and it is too early to consider seriously this proposal. Initially, there must be a draft which has to be filed with the NEAA. If it decides that this project complies with university statutes, it will proceed, explained the Minister. "It is also necessary to verify whether the project meets the stipulated requirements as to having adequate university facilities, whether it provides the required number of lecturers, as well as which disciplines and which specialisation programmes will be offered there," added Sergey Ignatov. According to him, the Council of Ministers will decide on the establishment of such a university in case the Accreditation Agency approves the project.
