The final amendments to the Tourism Act to be ready within days

“We are specifying the final amendments to the new Tourism Act and the final draft of the Bill will be moved to the Council of Ministers within days,” Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev announced during a meeting with representatives of the industry. The meeting was attended by MPs and Deputy Minister Ivo Marinov, responsible for the tourism sector.

The discussion at the meeting was the last step to smooth out the controversial provisions of the draft before its submission to the Council of Ministers. A key point was to achieve consensus on the proposed division of the country into tourist regions. The participants supported the Government’s policy for a reduction of the administrative burden on businesses via the stipulated simplified procedures when applying for registration and categorisation and the possibility of submitting applications electronically. The elimination of the regimes for categorisation of ski tracks and beaches is also important. However, this does not mean that their concessionaires/tenants will be exempted from the obligation to take care of these and ensure their safe use.

The bill encourages the accelerated development of specialised types of tourism - cultural, balneo, SPA and wellness, country, ecological, congress, youth, adventure, hunting, golf, etc.

“Bulgaria can draw on the experience and good practices of Italy in the development of equestrian tourism,” said Deputy Minister Ivo Marinov during his meeting with Luigi Triossi, Secretary General of the International Federation for Equestrian Tourism (FITE), Alberto Spineli, President of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism (FITETREC -Ante) and Fausto Faggioli, Vice President of the Regional Federation of Equestrian Tourism of the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, who is also Head of the European Academy for Development of Rural Territories (EART Academy).

Marinov stressed the importance of specialised forms of tourist services, such as equestrian tours and attractions that can turn Bulgaria into a year-round tourism destination. According to the Italian guests, Bulgaria has wonderful potential to develop this type of tourism. They will provide information on how they cooperate with the ministries of tourism and agriculture in their country. Bulgaria was invited to take part in the specialised exhibition for equestrian tourism in Verona in November.
