An investigator: I never said the terrorist was undoubtedly a suicide bomber

"I never said that the individual responsible for the terrorist attack in Burgas was undoubtedly a suicide bomber. It's clear to everyone that there are two possibilities – either this person was on a lone suicide mission, or he had someone helping him," Georgi Iliev, investigator with the National Investigation Service, told bTV.

There is an obvious contradiction in Iliev's public statements since just a day earlier he told BNR there was conclusive evidence it was a suicide attack.

"We cannot claim without a shadow of a doubt that this was a suicide bombing," the investigator now claims.

Georgi Iliev revealed that five investigators led by the District Prosecutor of Burgas Kalina Chapkanova are working on the case.

According to Iliev, it's still too early to say when a greater light on the investigation can be expected. The Bulgarian team of experts was forced to send a letter rogatory to Israel, since on the night following the bombing all witnesses' accounts of the events were affected by strong emotions in the aftermath of the tragic event. The Israeli investigators are now going to conduct a second round of interrogations.
