The price of limestone produced by Kaolin mining company to be changed

The Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism commissioned an inspection due to the inflated price of the limestone sold by Ivo Prokopiev's Kaolin mining company to power plants in the Maritsa basin, Minister Delyan Dobrev told bTV. “If the price of kaoline is not market-based, it should be renegotiated,” the Minister stated.

He said that the issue has to be resolved by mid-September. “We are examining all concession contracts. We are still trying to find out why contracts of Kaolin specify higher prices. We have sent letters to power plants demanding an explanation. They say that the prices were fixed 5 years ago. They were market-based and were set on the basis of a bid. However, the fact that some of the prices are market-based does not mean that they will always be market-based because the market is changing. Therefore, if these prices are different, we have to defend the interest of the state,” the Minister added.
