Policemen are ready to protest at the end of September

The biggest trade union organisation of employees of the Ministry of Interior is preparing new police protests for higher salaries. Police officers plan to protest on September 23 and 24, if they obtain permission by the Mayor of Sofia, according to a declaration sent to the media. Trade unionists have set up an internal organisation among their members, who are spread across 125 trade unions throughout the entire country. They have received an official statement that the Trade Union of Prison Officers in Bulgaria will support their protest, the press release read.

The cause of the protests is the lack of dialogue, as well as the obvious reluctance of the Ministry of Interior to reach a consensus. Apart from its demands for higher remuneration, the trade union is calling for a legal amendment which would allow its members to receive income on the side, i.e.. to work privately in their spare time.

Members of the Trade Union Federation of Employees in the Ministry of Interior (TUFEMI) reminded that they have presented their requirements to the Ministry of Interior on July 27 but they only held one meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Interior in a month and a half.
