Dimitar Stoyanov ready to confront directly the Ataka leader Volen Siderov

The Ataka party must be modernised in order to keep pace with the developments of the nationalist formations worldwide because the time of the nationalism thriving on squares has long since gone and therefore it must be civilised, announced yesterday morning in the broadcast "Welcome to Luba Kulezich" on TV7, MEP Dimitar Stoyanov. I am ready to confront directly Volen Siderov, but after he has vacated his post and has overcome the fear, which grips him, added he. "I am still a member of the Ataka party and do not intend to leave it voluntarily. I will not desert the formation that I have created and worked upon," reckoned the politician, while not hiding his intention to set up a new party if he considers that the options of rescuing Ataka are exhausted. The demand for Volen Siderov's resignation is not a betrayal, stated Dimitar Stoyanov, the son of Kapka Siderova who is actually divorcing the Ataka leader. "Such things happen in the democratic world constantly. That is why, there is freedom of speech and convictions," explained he. Besides, the MEP spared his comments on the rift in his mother's family but stressed that he had requested Volen Siderov's resignation due to political rather than personal reasons. "If I wanted to demand his resignation because of his worsening family relationship with my mother, I would have done it a long time ago," reckoned Stoyanov.

''For me, it does not matter if the Ataka parliamentary group continues to exist or not,'' stated Volen Siderov on NTV. He added that none of the people who discredit him, have actually made any personal contribution to the party. The Ataka leader stated that Ataka newspaper is now a weekly edition, which will be issued on Friday.

At the end of last week, Volen Siderov accused the maverick MPs, who left the Ataka party, that despite their monthly salary, they are receiving a bonus of BGN 17,000 per month, which is sheer trade with political influence.  The leader of the right-wing nationalists called upon the ruling GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) party to return the funds received as party subsidies intended for the independent MPs, who declared their affiliation with the parliamentary majority.According to him, under this vicious scheme a subsidy worth BGN 238, 000 has already been diverted from the Ataka party and the funds have been transferred to the mavericks, who have already declared their affiliation with the GERB party involving Valentin Nikolov, Ognyan Peychev, Kiril Gumnerov, Kalina Krumova and Tsveta Georgieva. The Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, however, countered Siderov with the reply: " There are no such amounts that have been transferred under the fraud scheme you are talking about."
