Stock-breeders to receive an additional BGN 140 mln

“Stock-breeders will be supported by an additional BGN 140 mln in 2012,” announced Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov after a meeting of the Government.

Two schemes have been approved. One of these is worth about BGN 73 mln and is intended for tobacco producers. The State has already managed to find an additional BGN 67 mln in order to increase the funds for the national payments to livestock-breeders. Thus, instead of paying BGN 140 per cow, as initially projected, farmers will receive BGN 200 per cow. Financial assistance for raising sheep and goats will go up from BGN 29 to BGN 41 per animal and that for buffalos – from BGN 250 to BGN 350 per animal. “The entire resource we have managed to ensure amounts to BGN 140 mln. We gave this paycheck to Bulgarian farmers,” said Minister Naydenov. The payment of subsidies starts on October 17. “By December 1, about BGN 110 mln will be paid and the remaining BGN 30 mln – in the first week of January,” specified Naydenov.
