Vending machines not linked to NRA to be sealed

Self-service vending machines that have no remote connection for reporting their revenues on NRA servers will be sealed as of November 1 and the ones without an indication of their owner can be seized, the National Revenue Agency announced.

The Law requires that owners of self-service machines connect their devices to the NRA by the end of October. The operation of vending machines without fiscal devices may lead to a penalty of up to BGN 10,000, NRA warned. As of November 1, NRA inspectors will make it a priority to check self-service vending machines. No extension of the deadline has been provided for. So far, about 2,500 machines report their revenues through a remote link to the NRA. According to industry data, between 15,000 and 25,000 self-service machines operate in the country. "There is no reason for control actions to be delayed. The Law is the same for everyone and there cannot be a sector which is privileged. More than 350,000 merchants have already fulfilled the requirement, I believe that the vending industry could have done so as well," said Vassil Panov, Director of Control at the NRA, with respect to the expiring deadline.

On October 25, representatives of the Bulgarian Vending Association came to protest in front of the Ministry of Finance against the decision to introduce fiscal devices in self-service vending machines. According to them, if such fiscal devices are introduced for all self-service vending machines, the prices of the goods they offer will have to rise by between 33% and 50%. Operators of such devices say they have to invest tens of thousands of leva.
