NCPOR: 24.5% approve of GERB, 19% of BSP

The approval for the ruling party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) fell by 2% at the beginning of November, compared to September, showed a recent survey of the National Centre for Public Opinion Research (NCPOR) on political attitudes. Some 24.5% of the respondents declared leanings for GERB, nearly 19% - for BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party) - 1.5% more than in September and 6.4% - for MRF (Movement for Rights and Freedoms).

The supporters of Meglena Kuneva’s Bulgaria for Citizens Movement increased by 2% in November and, currently, account for 6.2% of the polled people. Some 3.6% are sympathisers of the Blue Coalition (UDF and DSB) and 3% - of the Ataka party. Smaller parties such as NFSN (National Front for Saving Bulgaria), NMSP (National Movement for Stability and Progress), OLJ (Order, Law and Justice) and IMRO (Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation) are supported by around 1-1.5%

President Rosen Plevneliev is the most approved of Bulgarian politician, enjoying a 52% approval, followed by Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova (50%), PM Boyko Borissov (43%), Minister of Agriculture and Food Miroslav Naydenov and Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, each of them with 42% support.

EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is the public figure with the highest approval - 65%, followed immediately by Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova with some 57% approval.

In November, Georgi Parvanov was approved by 41% and was the sixth most popular Bulgarian politician.

The following places in the top 10 of Bulgarian politicians are occupied by Vice President Margarita Popova, Culture Ministers Vezhdi Rashidov, Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov and Minister of Education, Youth and Science Sergei Ignatov.
