Around 300 water treatment plants operate or are under construction in Bulgaria

“Around 300 water treatment plants currently operate or are under construction in Bulgaria. I hope the participants in the next edition of the conference will talk about integrated water projects,” Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova said at a conference on the state and challenges in building water treatment plants held on Monday. According to her, we should not only think about ecology and wastewater treatment, but also about solving the problem of water supply.

“Together with the Ministry of Environment and Water, we have developed a water strategy that will give us the direction for work in order to improve the situation in the sector,” stated Minister Pavlova at the opening of the event. “We are also working on a very important ordinance for designing and construction of wastewater treatment plants,” she added. The Minister noted that its drafting has been delayed more than 6-7 years, which means that the sector needs a stir-up.
