Inspections for illegal felling of alder trees to begin before Christmas

The Executive Forestry Agency will launch large-scale inspections for felling, transportation and sale of Christmas trees, announced the agency’s press office. The felling of Christmas trees will be carried out while observing the provisions of the Forestry Act and their transportation will require a transport ticket, including data about both the buyer and the seller, the date and time of departure of the vehicle, the type and the quantity of transported trees or branches. Details of the document on the basis of which the Christmas trees will be produced, acquired or received should be specified as well. The director of the respective state-owned forestry or hunting farm will empower officials to issue the transport tickets. Such a document may also be issued by a person registered for exercising silvicultural practice. Fines of between BGN 50 and BGN 3,000 for natural persons and from BGN 100 to BGN 5,000 for juristic persons are stipulated for violations, specified the Executive Forestry Agency.
