Over 80% of Bulgarians are against the legalisation of soft drugs

Some 81% of Bulgarians are against the legalisation of the use of soft drugs, including marijuana, according to a national survey by NCSPO conducted between November 30 and December 6 among 1,000 people. Such an option seems particularly unacceptable for people over 40 years of age living outside the capital city, as well as women. Some 69% of respondents under 29 years of age are against the legalisation of soft drugs. According to the survey, 11% of all respondents are in favour of the legalisation of soft drugs and marijuana, in particular. Some 7% of these, however, stated that the introduction of certain restrictive conditions would be necessary and 4% accept the idea unconditionally. Mostly young, highly educated and wealthy people expressed their support for the legalisation of soft drugs.
