Some 150,000 more yearly vignettes for cars issued

The distribution network was stocked with 150,000 yearly vignette stickers for cars on Sunday, the Road Infrastructure Agency announced.

Because of the high demand for this type of stickers, the printing-office worked overtime during the night and, instead on February 4 - Monday, the additional quantities were issued on Sunday. On February 2, about 100,000 yearly vignettes for cars were made available to the distributor.

On Friday morning, the problems started from smaller towns such as Svishtov, Dimitrovgrad, Kazanlak, and, partly, Silistra. There were reports that some stations in Plovdiv also lack vignettes. On Sunday, we had a signal for a station in Blagoevgrad. A total of 5,700 vignettes were sent especially to Blagoevgrad. We have assigned the printing-office the task for the issuance of extra copies so that, on Monday, we will have another 120,000 vignettes. The more vignettes bought, the more revenues for the repair of roads. Therefore, at this stage, we are not thinking of a price increase in 2014, Eng. Lazar Lazarov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency said on Saturday for BNR.

Police officers will make compromises and will not penalise drivers until Tuesday in regions where there are no commercially available vignettes. The printing of the new stickers started on Friday. Some 100,000 copies of the new stickers have already been distributed. On Monday, traders will receive another 120,000 stickers, Lazarov promised.

Vidin also lacks vignettes. According to drivers of motor vehicles, there are no stocks in petrol stations any more, BNR announced.

Since the launch of the vignettes sale on December 20, 2012, some 1,100,000 annual car stickers have been printed and made available for distribution.
