Football Personality Ivailo Drazhev to Serve 7 Years in Prison

The Supreme Cassation Court on Monday
sentenced football personality Ivailo Drazhev to five years'
imprisonment for causing a traffic accident in 1998 which killed
two people. He will actually serve seven years in prison,
because the deadly accident at the seaside resort of
Chernomorets happened while he was serving a two-year
conditional sentence for drink driving.

Drazhev is also banned from driving for five years. He has to
pay 55,000 leva in civil damages and 2,000 leva in legal fees.

Drazhev was president of the Chernomorets football club in the
port city of Bourgas for many years. After a scandal between him
and the City Hall, he relocated the club to Sofia and gave it
the unusual name Chernomorets Bourgas Sofia.
