Bulgaria ranks fourth in the EU in terms of growth in the sales of new cars

Bulgaria ranks fourth in the European Union in terms of growth in the sales of new cars with an increase in the deals signed of almost 36% in April, on an annual basis, according to data of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA). Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia topped the ranking with about a 100% increase in the number of deals on new cars. In April alone, the number of deals on vehicles in the country reached 1,631, which was 430 units more than in the same month of 2010.

Unfortunately, the overall data for the European Union is not optimistic - transactions declined by 4.1%. In February, sales in Europe increased slightly after 11 months of decline but in March and April a decrease was registered again.

Regarding the period January - April, Bulgaria again ranks below the top three Baltic countries in terms of growth in sales. The EU average figures were negative as the recorded decrease was 2.7% for the first four months of the year. Volkswagen was the best-selling brand within the Union. The German company sold about 145,000 cars, out of nearly 1.09 million transactions signed in April.
